Recyclability and evidence

The PPWR requires recyclable packaging. We support you with consulting, material analysis and expert opinions, so that you have reliable evidence for your packaging.

Typical tests in this area

  • Advice on recyclability under Regulation (EU) 2025/40 (PPWR)
  • Material analysis: number of layers, layer thickness, polymer type, fillers and additives
  • Heavy metals and elements
  • Expert opinions and damage analyses

Improving recyclability

A first step is a valid film specification. It serves as a benchmark to compare new materials with the established packaging material. We pay attention to machine suitability and availability.

We also support you with monomaterial barrier films. We work independently of material type and supplier.

Material composition and pollutants

Material analysis shows the structure of films and laminates. We test heavy metals and other elements in packaging materials. An expert opinion summarises the results.

Frequently asked questions

What is the PPWR?

The PPWR is Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on packaging and packaging waste. It sets requirements for the recyclability of packaging.

What does a material analysis achieve?

It shows how a package is built: number of layers, layer thickness distribution, polymer type, fillers and additives. This information is the basis for assessing recyclability.

How can the recyclability of a film be improved?

A first step is a valid film specification as a comparison benchmark. On this basis we test alternatives, for example monomaterial barrier films, and match them to your filling material.
