Packaging, Filling & Thermoforming
Stand-up pouches, sacks and thermoformed packaging
Whether stand-up pouch, sack or thermoformed tray: the packaging must fill, seal and withstand transport. We test tightness, drop resistance, seal seams, compression and dimensional stability, and gas tightness.
Typical tests in this area
- Tightness and leak testing
- Drop test of sacks and pouches, compression test on cups and trays (-40 to +120 °C)
- Seal seam quality of PE pouches and sacks
- Permeation and residual oxygen or carbon dioxide content in finished packs
- Dimensional and repeat measurements, storage test, damage analysis
Tightness and load capacity
A leak test finds pores, micro-holes and defects. The drop test shows how sacks and pouches withstand impacts. The compression test on cups and trays runs in a temperature range of -40 to +120 °C.
Gas and residual oxygen
We measure permeation and the residual oxygen and carbon dioxide content in finished packs. For stand-up pouches and filling, gas tightness is often the decisive criterion.
Accelerated ageing
A storage test is calculated using the Arrhenius relationship with Q10 = 2 as the standard. The result is an indicative value. For initial sampling we recommend parallel storage under real conditions.
Frequently asked questions
What do you test after damage or a complaint?
We offer a diagnostic concept with a limited budget, usually 700 to 1,000 euros. It covers reviewing existing information and carrying out first tests on a schedule. You quickly receive first reliable results and a documented overview.
What information do you need for a storage test quote?
The packaging type with size and filling volume, the number of packs, whether empty or emptied packs are to be tested, the filling material with CAS number or safety data sheet, the storage period and the ambient conditions.
How reliable is accelerated ageing?
The calculation gives an indicative value and should be checked case by case. For new packaging we recommend validating the test in parallel under real storage conditions.
Request a test order
After damage or a complaint, a small first investigation often helps. Write to us with what happened and which documents you have.

Understanding the fat barrier of fibre-based packaging – why testing is crucial
Fatty foods pose particular challenges for packaging. Fats can penetrate materials, affect their appearance or cause problems from the very first contact. This is precisely why tests such as fat resistance, fat permeability and fat repellency play a central role – both in development and in quality assurance. In this context, two fundamental perspectives can be distinguished: …
