Colorimetric measurement, colourimetry (L*, a*, b*)
Measurement of colors, e.g. for evaluation of color deviations, color changes, for comparative measurements, etc. on films, granulates or flakes, articles, pastes, liquids, or others.
Possible parameters: Measuring area 3- 25.4 mm, light type D 65 or D 50, measuring geometry d8, observer 2° or 10°- depending on the task and the test standard to be fulfilled.
Standard Tests
Colour measurement on liquids, pastes, etc.
Specific Norm: DIN 5033-1
The method is used, for example, to evaluate the color perception of liquids, pastes and similar materials. One application is, for example, the evaluation of the discoloration of washing solutions from cleaning processes for PET recyclates (bleeding). Here, color measurements are used to document the effects of packaging design on PET recyclate, e.g. with regard to possible bleeding of printing inks from label materials into PET.
Colour measurement on films, printings, etc.
Specific Norm: DIN 5033-1
The method is used, for example, to evaluate the matching of colours or colour changes. Here, the deviation from a defined standard, which is called Δ E or ΔL*,Δ a*,Δ b* for the three individual colour axes, is usually of interest.
